Homes for Black Children (HBC) is a foster home licensing agency supported by a multitude of nurturing foster families. Foster care provides safety for children who have been removed from their families because of abuse, neglect or abandonment. HBC provides temporary foster care for children until a decision can be made about their future. Our trained foster families provide care for the children in crisis and give them love and a sense of comfort and belonging until they can return to their birth parents.
All foster families receive extensive pre- and post-training and are licensed by the State of Michigan.
Homes for Black Children provides adoption services focusing on the well-being of the child and brining children and families together. There are generally two types of adoptions: voluntary released infants; and children who have come from the child welfare system. Ages range from infancy through 17 years old. The process begins with orientation, training and assessment.
Our goal is to provide holistic, strengths-based support that empowers families to thrive, reduces the need for out-of-home placement, and promotes long-term success for children and caregivers.
Homes For Black Children is an independent 501(c)(3) corporation in the State of Michigan. Homes For Black Children is an Equal Opportunity Agency. No one is denied care, assistance or employment on the basis of race, age, religion, national origin, color, or disability, gender, veteran/military status, sexual orientation, ancestry or marital status.
